The American dream. The promise that any nobody can become somebody. Aside from being the land of the free, America is also the land of opportunity. Forgive me for putting a little political bias in my gallery but, to me, Obama is the embodiment of the American Dream. From a little known senator from Chicago who grew up in Hawaii to a presidential prospect. The amount of success he has had is amazing. Even his campaign slogan, "yes we can!" resonates with the ideals of the American dream.

The second work of art depicts a women asleep on a chair dreaming of weddings and flowers and automobiles. The main ingredient in making your American dream come true is ambition. This woman is dreaming of the good life, waiting for her chariot to take her to a better life.

Emily Dickinsons 319th poem describes a boy chasing his dream. Replace the boy with an American citizen and you have a typical American story or perhaps the story of Jay Gatsby, whose dream of marrying Daisy is never realized. However, Gatsby's character was dreamlike in itself in that his identity was completely self-made. He has achieved whatever he wanted to achieve but Daisy's love eluded him.
